Steve
Dow (aka "Jolt") has been playing kit drums, exotic percussion, and singing lead & backing
vocals for over 34 years. He's toured the U.S. with the original
jump blues band, "The Persuaders", and throughout
the northeastern U.S. in numerous original bands; playing fusion, funk, rock,
and R&B. Early on, he studied with Bobby Clarke (who was a touring
drummer with Joan Baez). Bobbi was also a pioneer in jazz-rock fusion drumming.

By performing with great musicians throughout the years, Steve has gained not only skill, but a great deal respect for his instrument, and those who play it. He also has extensive experience playing across a wide range of musical genres. As a result, he is a respected
session/live player in the northeastern U.S., and, has shared the stage
with performers such as Delbert McClinton, Farrenheit, Albert Collins,
Joan Jett, Till Tuesday, The Joe Perry Project, Molly Hatchet, and
many others. He's also done sessions and performed with musicians who themselves
have toured, performed and/or recorded with artists such as Alison Krauss, The Don Campbell Band, Artie Shaw, Maynard Ferguson, MC5,
Buddy Rich, Albert Collins, Albert King, Bo Diddly, and others. But most of all, Steve is known for loving for "creating great grooves", "nailing the pocket", and offering up a tasty fills or solos when asked. He also writes and arranges.

Steve has an "Outstanding Musicianship
Award" from the NAJE
(National Association of Jazz Educators), shares a third place
ASCAP award for original songwriting (while in the band "Safety In
Numbers"), and placed third in the "International
Fastest Drummer Competition" held in 2004 at the winter NAMM show in California. |
